I'm not sure if this will help, but there is a program called 'abook' (I guess http://abook.sourceforge.net), which is intended to use with mutt and which can import and export from/to many (well not so many) formats. If there will not be vCard, maybe there will be different one to which Evolution is able to export... Check it out.
