well in terminal emulators like rxvt and xterm, you can change the
colors from default in your .Xdefaults; i'd assume you might be able to
do this for dterm as well.

Eterm is cool because you can create various themes and then call them
as Eterm -t themename.

i have my colors for mutt terminals set totally differently from other
terminal settings.
