Hi mutt users,

This is my first post to this list. I switched from using Netscape Messanger
for the past 4 years to mutt very recently (2 weeks ago). I am quite happy
with it but as you can imagine, there some little things that I miss.

I read my mail via IMAP. There are 3 issues I see with the way mutt handles
IMAP mail.

1. Attachments

I am not an IMAP expert but I believe that attachments can be downloaded
separately from the rest of the email. I believe it is possible to download
an attachment on demand, not automatically when reading the body of the
email. I noticed that mutt does download all attached documents when I
choose to read the email.
My question is: Is there a way to have mutt download attachment on demand?

2. File size

It is very convenient to know the size of an email (attachments included)
before reading it. With IMAP the MUA downloads the headers first and the
email on demand. It would be nice if mutt would print the size of each email
when retrieving the content of the mailbox. Combine this with the issue #1
related to the attachments and I go crazy sometimes waiting for a large
message to download. If I knew the size of that message before hand, it
would be a lot easier.

3. Cache

I have very large folders. My Trash contains more than 6,000 emails and my
Sent folder contains some 1,200 emails. I am used to Messenger caching the
headers on disk so that not all headers need to be downloaded every time I
try to find an email in these very large folders. Is there such a feature
for mutt? If yes, how do I activate it?

Thank you for your answers. Thanks also for making mutt a really good MUA.

        Haim
