you need to build mutt with either ncurses or slang (doesn't the list
of compiler options still say what library it was built with? - I don't
see that in the summary, though it says it found resizeterm, which is
ncurses).  The function in ncurses which turns on default colors is
called use_default_colors - and that doesn't show in the summary.
Perhaps the configure script is getting confused by NetBSD's curses,
which won't work afaik.
