Defaulting to thread mode

A: Every time I bring up mutt, I am doing a o --> t to get into thread mode.
Is there some way I can default the mode to thread mode?

B: I am using qmail and ~/Maildir/.  Every time I exit mutt, I am prompted
with:

Move read messages to ~/mbox? ([n]/y):

   Is there any way to suppress this message?
