For converting Word attachments to plain text, I use wvHtml
(http://www.wvWare.com/) piped to w3m
(http://ei5nazha.yz.yamagata-u.ac.jp/~aito/w3m/eng/).  Mswordview is now
wvWare.  For Excel attachments, I use xlHtml (http://www.xlhtml.org/)
piped to w3m.

The scripts I use to hook these together are available from my web site.
