I don't know what changed, but for the last day or two every time I send a message from mutt, I get this message: ~/.mutt/tmp/mutt-merrill-5493-10 [#1] modified. Update encoding? ([y]/n): I have to confirm that on every message I send. Did something change without my knowing it? What do I have to do to get that message to stop coming up?
