Dave Murray proclaimed on mutt-users that:

8.11.3 should install out of the box - and overwrite your previous sendmail
while installing it. It'll fit right in, without your having to purge the old
sendmail. Oh btw, sendmail 8.12.0 beta 5 is out :)
