Changing Index Colors

[Murray Maxwell Dancey]

How can I make new messages to me one color, and new messages in
general another color?  I also want old messages to me to be yet
another color.

Im trying...

color index        cyan            default "(~p) ~N"
color index        brightcyan      default "~p"
color index        green           default "~N"
color index        brightgreen     default "~O"
color index        red             default "~D"
