As it happens, yes you're right. :) At the time I didn't know who was at
fault, I merely found out how to solve the incompatibility with a bit of a
hack. :)

Oh, I agree 100%. I just identified a workaround that allows me to do
what I want right now, and thought I'd pass it on.
I dug into the mutt-dev archives for more information, in case it had
already been discussed there, and it seems it has. Apparently, the code
that does wrongful things by Eudora was actually a kludge to make Mutt
work with Outlook. Figures...
