% Is there a way to tag messages before they're saved in the "mbox" or which ever mail
box? There have been a few instances where I did/don't have enough time to reply to
the message but would like to write myself a note as to what the reply should contain.
Another application would be if the sender didn't leave a descriptive enough subject
and one would want to append some personal reminders.
With the dev versions of mutt, or with 1.2.5 and patches, you can create
and edit an X-Label: header which can contain anything you wish; you can
even act against it with an expando. I use this to note tips, scripts,
URLs, and the like all of the time.
You can start a reply, to perhaps contain your notes, and then exit the
editor and choose to 'P'ostpone the message instead of sending it then.
The next time you wish to 'm'ail a message, you'll first get a prompt
"recall postponed message(s)?" that will let you pick your "draft" from
your list.
You can also edit the email in place (well, in an automated fashion and
with it saved back to the current mailbox, but it will be at the end of
the file) with the 'e'dit command.
All of these are documented in the manual; have fun :-)
