The best answer, as you have seen already, is to use fetchmail instead of
mutt's very limited pop support.

If you insist on using mutt to get your mail, though, you could easily
create muttrc.pop1, muttrc.pop2, muttrc.pop3 and store in each of those
the pop settings for the relevant host, and then whip up macros to source
each file (and even push the 'G' to get the mail!).
