Ok, the scenario is this. 

    I create subdirectory A, and then send a message with an attachment from
subdirectory A. I then delete subdirectory A, and the next time I try to
change directories in mutt in any way, be it via attachments or changing
folders, I simply get the error, "error, directory A does not exist". 

    Could mutt possibly cd to your home directory, or your spool directory, or
something, instead of just giving that error? Or has this been fixed already?
