#ftp, #news and the .mh_profile error are all on account of NAMESPACE,
which is issued when you are in your root folder. The .mh_profile
error messages is something of a bug on the server, which I believe
has been fixed in later versions. You can suppress this notice by
unsetting $imap_servernoise, but you may miss other more important
server updates.
#ftp and #news are gateways to your local public ftp account and news
spool, respectively. They require some setting up, though.
