When no LC_CTYPE or LANG variable is set, mutt displays special characters like ë, é, £, correctly. But when LANG=C is set and LC_CTYPE are unset, they are not. This is a bit strange, because when LANG and LC_CTYPE are unset, programs usually use the default locale settings, which should be equal to those used when LANG=C. Or am I missing something?
