vi (or vim) is the default editor - put this in your .muttrc
set editor="/path/to/vim" (usually /usr/bin/vim or /usr/local/bin/vim).
Of course, feel free to use whatever other editor you want (say
/path/to/pico -t -z" if you want to be sacrilegeous) :)
To find out where your editor is, do
$ which vim (or pico or joe or ...)
