I don't know which page you saw, but the theory is simple: just reference
$TERM where you'd like to have your particular terminal flavor.

So you might have $HOME/.mutt.vt100 and $HOME/.mutt.xterm files
containing commands specific to each, and then have

  source $HOME/.mutt.$TERM

in your .muttrc.

The "new millennium" starts at the beginning of 2001.  There was no year 0.
