In general, mutt tries to pick the most efficient encoding method. If
you have a few special characters in your document, then it will use QP
(since you've turned off 8bit); if you have a bunch, it will be more
efficient to convert the whole item to (somewhat wasteful, just like
uuencode) base64. Since you're *probably* not using StarOffice as your
mutt editor :-) you are unlikely to have to fall back to base64.
