I can certainly see how you would say that. But the nice thing about mutt is it is extremely configurable, and that goes for colors as well, of course. You can use as much or as little as you like. It comes in handy for From fields, the threads tree indicators, blocking off quoted materials, the status line, and a host of other things. And again, you can be liberal or sparse with it.
