You need to change your $index_format variable. You probably have
either %L or %F there (possibly with width definitions) for displaying
the author name, which will both show "To <recipient>" if the email is
from you. Changing that to %f or %n ought to do what you want. Refer
to the manual for more explanations about the $index_format %-format
strings.
