I doubt anyone built mutt in this environment before.

First of all, without an exact description of the errors it is almost
impossible to give helpful answers. Please quote the output of the
first error messages.

I think it is a bit more work to compile mutt on a nextstep machine,
because probably it is different from a standard UNIX system in some
ways. To investigate these differences and develop the fixes some
programming experience (or the time to get it :-) may be needed.
If you have it, I'd suggest you start with the stable release of mutt,
which is 1.0. It has been compiled on more systems and therefore should
be better portable.

little interest for pure mutt users.
