Do you mean, exit the compose menu? You won't get help for Emacs or any
other text editor on the Mutt list. And incidentally, Mutt doesn't come
with an editor, apart from the simple line editor for editing subject
lines and such for new emails.
I'll assume you mean the compose menu, which is where you end up after
you exit from the editor.

Yes, that's right. Even if your message has just one text part, the
"message body" for normal emails, it shows up as an attachement in the
compose menu. That's because technically it can be taken to be one,
and also it makes it simpler to show the menu and manipulate the the
message contents. Mutt displays each and every message component,
instead of the usual GUI representation where attachements are files
in addition to the body text.
To exit that menu and send an email, you only need to press "y".
You can also press q to quit and cancel, or P for postpone. All these
commands are re-bindable to other keys, but those are the defaults.
