Have a look at the save-hooks.  You already got an answer about your
macro question, but also configuring Mutt so that it knows which folder
you want to save the messages by default when you press s(ave) might be
useful to you.  Especially, if there is some sure way to determine where
each message should be saved based on headers, you can set up a default
save-hook for that kind of messages.

It may or may not do what you want, but I do suggest you look into it,
if you haven't done so already.

What's the difference here between typing a space after the mail
recipient, or pressing return?  It's still just one keypress.  What's
wrong with Mutt's default behaviour to prompt first for the To: and
then for the Subject: header?

I just don't understand why you'd want to do this...  In any case, I
don't think it's possible with Mutt's current macro support, since you
can only create macros as series of keystrokes.  That would require
something more advanced.
