I noticed a similar problem a few months ago. It is still there.
Change the status of some messages (e.g. flag them). Modify the
folder (in my case, I execute a script that adds an In-Reply-To
line, because some broken mailers don't generate one) and reopen
the folder --> it is completely corrupted and some data are lost.
