Yes, plenty of people have shown you the mutt end, but for the external program
end I have a few suggestions at http://astro.utoronto.ca/~reid/mutt/

The main difference is that that page also has an emacs mode which makes it
easy to get another sig if you decide that the first one is inappropriate for
the recipient(s).
