I am running mutt 0.95.6i on a Solaris 7 platform and usually have a
netscape browser window open on my desktop. I have the following entries
in the mailcap file:
text/html; netscape -remote 'openURL(%s)'
text/html; netscape %s 2>/dev/null
When I have an html attachment (Content-Type: text/html;) and I attempt
to read it, it gets handed off the the running netscape which is set to
point to a temporary file (e.g., file:/tmp/mutt5la4ql) but there is no
content. Apparently this is because mutt returns immediately and removes
the temporary file before netscape can grab it.
If I remove the first entry leaving only:
text/html; netscape %s 2>/dev/null
then a second browser session gets started (with the requisite "can't
change settings" warning) and mutt does wait until the browser is closed
prior to continuing with the removal of the file. The problem here is
that it takes much longer time to fire up a second copy of netscape than
simply handing off to the currently running copy.
Is there some way to continue to use the "-remote" option to netscape
while getting mutt to better behave concerning the removal of the temp.
file?
Thanks for any insight you can offer.
