David DeSimone gave a good response to this.  I would just like to add
that it is very common for list subscribers to want to send mail to a
list from one address, but to want the list to send mail to another
address.  If the mailing list cannot support this, it is defective
and should be fixed.  The envelope sender is a reverse-path for error
messages, and people should not be encouraged to fake it (and people
without root access normally cannot fake it).

If the list in question uses majordomo, I can suggest a way for the list
maintainer to fix the problem.
