Eh?  You shouldn't confuse PGP/MIME and application/pgp.
application/pgp is used to tag "traditional" PGP messages.  That's
what PGP-Elm and friends used to create.  (You may be able to find
some old Internet-drafts on the web which describe how
application/pgp should be used.  Apparently, this were early drafts
in the discussion about PGP/MIME.)

Mutt has quite a bit of code designed for dealing with traditional
PGP messages, as long as they are tagged using any of the known
methods.  Just don't write text/plain onto your attachments if they
contain PGP data.

Use your script together with the edit-attachment function, I'd  not
suggest. ;-)
