To clarify: I'd remove this.

Since no one spoke up in defense of the bundled regex code, I will go forward with adding a warning, marking it as deprecated in 2.5.0 and plan on pulling it out in 2.6.0.

I won't commit the PATCH 2/2 cleanup since that's a little bit risky, but I think I'll commit the "K&R to ANSI conversion". That's pretty safe and I
already went through the effort. :-)
