#3832: Cannot connect to IMAP4 mail server ----------------------+---------------------------- Reporter: mikeegg | Owner: brendan Type: defect | Status: new Priority: major | Milestone: 1.6 Component: IMAP | Version: 1.6.0 Resolution: | Keywords: IMAP, SSL, TLS ----------------------+----------------------------
Comment (by brendan): RFC 5161 says: - If the argument is not an extension known to the server, the server MUST ignore the argument. - If the argument is an extension known to the server, and it is not specifically permitted to be enabled using ENABLE, the server MUST ignore the argument. (Note that knowing about an extension doesn't necessarily imply supporting that extension.) But I suspect that this server is not complying. If I'm reading RFC 6855 right, a server supporting the capability should advertise it in the capability list, so perhaps mutt could work around this case by checking for the capability before sending the ENABLE command. -- Ticket URL: <https://dev.mutt.org/trac/ticket/3832#comment:2> Mutt <http://www.mutt.org/> The Mutt mail user agent
