#3298: Mutt's way to get the FQDN is broken ---------------------+---------------------- Reporter: vinc17 | Owner: mutt-dev Type: defect | Status: reopened Priority: major | Milestone: Component: mutt | Version: 1.5.20 Resolution: | Keywords: ---------------------+----------------------
Comment (by code@…): It's actually nearly inconceivable that a host which is so badly broken that its hostname does not properly forward and reverse resolve will work at all. Most modern desktop environments will fail to start if that is the case, since they use the hostname and hostname resolution for all sorts of things, including binding sockets, and (annoyingly) determining what configuration to parse. Thus on a modern system where the user is using X, this should always work, or fail long before the user ever gets to run Mutt. -- Ticket URL: <http://dev.mutt.org/trac/ticket/3298#comment:36> Mutt <http://www.mutt.org/> The Mutt mail user agent
