Hi, I apologize if this is an often brought up subject; I just joined the mailing list today.
I'm currently very pleased with Debian mutt. Unfortunately, Debian is reliant on many patches, most of them are listed in the PatchList in the mutt wiki. The Debian team is reluctant to add too many more patches to mutt, especially intrusive ones. I don't blame them, the upkeep can be mountainous. My point is, what's the requirement to get some of the patches into the main line of mutt? I'm particularly interested in the threading and sidebar patches. I maintain my own deb for mutt installation on my servers (to get the sidebar feature). I don't own these patches, so it's hard for me to personally submit them. Is there particular trouble in getting patches accepted into vanilla mutt? Is the community particularly stringent of new features? Thank you for your time. -Kyle
