Don't worry Alan, I had already ignored the previous email for exactly
the reasons you outlined - basically it was rude and ignorant.

There is no way I can get an up to date Linux running at Uni, I myself
run Gentoo on my home machines primarily and Win7 secondly, the IT mob
couldn't run a piss up in a brewery. The portable environment also
allows the students to have everything in a self contained package. In
fact the feedback I've gotten from students is that they love it for
this reason.

As to being a masochist, yes I am a flat water marathon kayaker and I
race bicycles, but in what I'm doing with this environment is actually
enjoyable. I've learnt a lot about the underpinnings of the Linux
environment, via customising bash scripts etc. As to the suggestion to
install about a bazillion different disto's to get a single man file,
which was sitting on my Gentoo box, yeaaahhhh right!!!

        Regards,
                Andrew

p.s. Is there a reason that on this list, and only this list, that when
someone replies to an email, I receive an email that is addressed to the
initial poster and the list is cc'd? In a similar situation on every
other list I'm on, I will receive an email that is addressed to the list
only. I hit reply and it goes to the list. On this list if I hit reply,
the email only goes to the one person, I need Reply All to get the list
as well. Thoughts?
