Worked for me too, running from Bash prompt and as script. Did you try
this, or was it just during Gnulib build?
My environment:
$ uname -m
i686
$ sed --version | head -1
sed (GNU sed) 4.2.2
$ bash --version | head -1
GNU bash, version 4.3.22(2)-release (i686-pc-msys)
