Hello Friends I face a peculiar problem with 'lame' especially if used with '-V 0 -q 0', all of a sudden the machine suddenly goes off. The CPU is Athlon 1800+, a pretty old machine, with Asrock K7Nx motherboard. Os is SuSE 10.
Even when using in conjunction with 'mencoder', this gives problems. These days what I do is run 'lame' or 'mencoder -oac mp3lame' with 'nice -19' and run some other applications parallely just to avoid getting the CPU bogged with 'lame'. Still anything outside default 'lame' option is almost impossible. Some of the ripped track these days I have to keep in 'wav' after 'cdparanoia'.
