Used to be that a lot of people liked reading their mail in the
standalone message window. That way, they can "delete" or "next"
through messages without having to see all the extra updating and
screen real estate of the folder and thread panes, when all they
really want to read is their messages. If delete didn't go to the
next message, then this wouldn't be practical (it would take two
keys, delete then next).
The question is, how many people still use this model?
(I don't, but I know several people who do.)
