Hi Jean-Bernard,
Thank you so much for your email! I'd definitely love to work with you
on localizing the French Newsletter. For the French Newsletter, we
currently use a translation service, but we've been working on
transitioning to a community based localization process. Right now we've
launched the initiative successfully in Spanish and I'm very excited to
work with you for the French locale.
There are a few ways we can work together depending on what works best
for you. The way I currently work with the Spanish team is that I send
them the word document of the English version of the newsletter. They
then have about a week or two to translate, provide comments and input,
co-review, and send back to me. I then load it in, and send a test
message to their team for a final review. Then when it looks good, I
launch it out to the list.
This process means that there's more than one contributor working on the
newsletter localization process. If there isn't another contributor that
would like to work on the French translations with you, I can send them
onto our current translator for review, just to have a second-set of
eyes on the content. If they have any edits or suggestions, I'll send
them onto you for review to approve, or disapprove, the comments.
The other way we could work together is that I could send the English
content to the translating service, and when I get their translations
back, I can send them onto you for review. Additionally, we're going to
start publicizing and reaching out to community members about this
project in the coming weeks. If we get some other French localizers, or
if you know of some that would be interested in working with us on this,
we could ask them to translate the text and send it to you for review.
Please let me know what you think about this project and what will be
the best way for us to work together. Thanks again for your email and I
look forward to working with you.
Very best,
Jess

I've copied Jessilyn Davis. Jess manages our localization process.

Hi
You receive this message because I suppose you are the Jane and
Winston mentioned as editors.
I am one French Mozilla contributor and my contribution is to
review/improve translation quality.
We were very glad (and a bit surprised) to see the November issue of
the newsletter in its French version.
There is no horrible mistake and the translation is quite good, no
major problem. Nevertheless ther are some little bits that should be
polished.
That is why we would like to know who has been in charge of the
translation, so that we take contact with him/her and agree on a
simple process to have work reviewed before release.
Have a nice day

Bonsoir,
Toujours aussi diplomate dans tes propos Jean-Bernard :) . J'avais eu
d'autres échos moins politiquement corrects sur ce bulletin...
Ça représente combien de mots en gros à chaque fois ? Sachant qu'on a 15
jours pour la traduction et la revue, tu peux me compter dans le
bataillon, sauf si c'est 10 pages à chaque fois ;-) .

Bonsoir,
Je ne maîtrise pas suffisamment l'anglais pour traduire... mais pour
réviser/relire, ça va, je peux le faire et le ferais volontiers.
Amicalement,
