The Great Gray sustained only the most minor of injuries but was otherwise healthy and well fed. With no medical reason to keep her at TRC any further, we were able to drive her north yesterday for a release into more appropriate habitat. This went very well. She was alert and wide awake -- quickly exiting the transporting box and flying strongly to a snag about 150 feet distant. There she looked around a bit, preened for a moment, then departed.
