We spent several hours at Carlos Avery today and saw quite a few birds. The
new migrants (for us) we saw today:

Chestnut-sided -- it was a Chestnut-sided day, saw quite a few
Black and White
Red-eyed Vireo -- several
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher
Palm Warbler -- a small wave of 10+

In addition, there were hard to id small flycatchers zipping around, one
Eastern Kingbird with almost all of the white band on his tail worn away, green
heron, trumpeter swans -- several, tree and barn swallows, pheasant,
red-breasted nuthatch, and a single crane.

What we found most interesting, we did not see a single hawk or eagle today,
not even a red tail
sitting on the light poles along the highway on the way out and back!
