My best find at the Armstrong Restoration project (NE corner of Steele County
along NE 84th, N of NE 36th) was a pair of two Eared Grebes close to shore.
They were on the W side of the road, towards the southern end of the complex.
This was my first visit to the project and I was impressed at its size. There
were
a great variety of ducks and good habitat for shorebirds (Grtr & Lssr
Yellowlegs
were the only shorebirds I saw.) I did not find the White-faced Ibis reported
there two days ago. I also didn’t see Larry’s American Golden Plover. I was
there
in the early evening, so the light and wind made viewing difficult on the W
side
of the road.
