To give proper credit, I believe the bird was found by Heidi Kirsch Novak and 
seen by many, including Kim Eckert’s MBW group. I did not see the bird myself. 
The owl was photographed this morning hunting in the fields on the east side of 
St. Louis County Road 7 south of Dibble Road.

My personal opinion is there is little risk of harm to the owl when observers 
and photographers use thoughtful, non-intrusive, and respectful observation 
practices.
