This year we will be conducting the 119th National Audubon Society
Christmas Bird Count, the largest and longest running citizen science
project in the world. Minnesota's Christmas Bird Counts are looking for
help. We have some 80 counts across the state running on a date from
December 14th through January 5th. To find out about a count near you,

.
About two thirds of the counts have posted their dates at this time.

We need birders of all skill levels. I remember my first count years ago. I
turned to my partner and said. "I don't know how much help I will be. I
don't know many bird calls." He responded, "We'll do just fine. I can't
hear most of the birds any more. You find them and we'll be able to ID
them." Many of the counts out-state are run with less than 10 participants.

This is a great opportunity to find some of the hidden birding spots in
your area, learn more about our winter species, bird with some of the top
birders in the state, and contribute to a large data collection. I hope
you join us.
