A friend in South Dakota has barn swallows nesting under her eaves, and for
two years in a row the birds have returned to the nest after fledging.
This year, the birds fledged Tuesday morning and returned to the nest that
night, left again yesterday morning and then returned to the nest ahead of
the impending storms. This seems very unusual. Has anyone run into this
behavior with barn swallows or any other species? I have done some cursory
searching online and find nothing about this, and it seems very interesting.

Thanks.
