Some recent arrivals in my yard in East Grand Forks (EGF), Polk County, this
week include MOURNING DOVE, COMMON GRACKLE, FOX SPARROW, SONG SPARROW, NORTHERN
FLICKER, RED-WINGED BLACKBIRD and a big increase in AMERICAN ROBINS.

There isn't a lot of open water close to me yet. There is a small patch at the
EGF sewage lagoons which yesterday had 2 SWANS with their heads tucked and
sleeping, most likely Tundras here but couldn’t say for sure, a couple of
MALLARDS and a handful of COMMON GOLDENEYE. A KILLDEER was heard nearby. A
couple of days ago there was a RING-BILLED GULL. I haven't had a chance to
travel to any of the watershed impoundments in the last week so I'm not sure
what else is out there.

On a walk along the Red Lake River in EGF yesterday, I saw a dozen WOOD DUCKS,
a MERLIN, and a RED-BELLIED WOODPECKER. Still plenty of JUNCOS and AMERICAN
TREE SPARROWS around.
