I am happy to report I saw my first warbler of the spring. The yellow rumped warbler was sitting in the maple right outside our Lodge door today.
Some of the other birds we are seeing are purple martins, purple & gold finches, many red winged blackbirds, dark eyed juncos, eastern phoebe, white breasted nuthatches, white throated sparrow, northern flickers, mourning doves, loons, common and hooded mergansers & trumpeter swans to mention a few. Rainbow Resort will be a fieldtrip site during the Detroit Lakes Festival of Birds May 15-18, http://www.visitdetroitlakes.com/events/festival-of-birds. I will try to update postings of new sightings of birds as they appear.
