Today, January 31, I refound the Varied Thrush at house on the SW side of Elk
Lake, north of Zimmerman. He did not come to the feeders, but after some
searching I found him resting, then preening in a conifer behind the front yard
feeders.

I returned to 253rd for crossbills, saw-whet and solitaire. I did not find any
of my three target birds. It was incredibly quiet. It seems like it's been a
couple of weeks or more since anyone has reported seeing the Townsend's
Solitaire. If anyone with an update could post, that would be appreciated.

I talked to 3 birders who said that no one they talked to had seen or heard the
Black-backed Woodpecker all day. I stopped to listen from the road, but did
not go in. Thanks to Diana for showing me the bird yesterday.
