This evening, as we were driving back to the Twin Cities, my wife and I saw a Short-eared Owl near the intersection of Itasca CR 10 and Hwy 2. This is where the town of Warba is located.
The owl was hunting and flying low over the tall grassy areas by the railroad tracks and by the Warba sewage pond. The time was 4:30 in the afternoon. I don't see Short-eared Owl on the MOU Itasca County checklist. Does that make this bird is a first county record?
