A Henslow's Sparrow was heard at the Lost Valley Prairie SNA in Washington County this morning (April 19) at 8:00 AM. According to my records this ties the record early spring arrival date for this species in southern Minnesota. Lost Valley SNA is located east of Highway 95 on Washington County Road 78, east on 78 to Nyberg Ave then .5 miles north on Nyberg. Park at the end of the road by the gate. The Henslow's was heard in the weedy fields to the west and north of the gate.
