I don't know if this will help your staff; but, I recently upgraded to a new
Window 7 64-bit workstation from a Windows 7 32-bit.

The problem of VS2010 crashing on the 64-bit workstation happens every 2/10
minutes (almost unusable for even minor software maintenance). I even
rolled-back to version 4.2.7 and the problem still persists on the 64-bit
workstation.

This morning I went back to the 32-bit workstation and I've been working for
almost 3-hours without a crash.

The processor details are.

X86 (OptiPlex 76) Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3.00GHz, 2992 Mhz, 2 Core, 2
Logical Processors.

X64 (XPS 8500) Intel Core i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40GHz, 3401 Mhz, 4 Core, 8 Logical
Processors.

I hope this this helps. I've become addicted to the much faster workstation
and hate going back.

Steve

I filed a bug report as Jon asked; but, now it is getting so bad I need to
roll-back to a prior version. What version should I roll-back to, and where
can I find the download?

Thanks,

Steve

Subject: [mono-android] VS2010 Crashing a lot lately v4.4.54

It seems lately I'm getting more VS2010 crashes with the message "Microsoft
Visual Studio has encountered a problem and needs to close". The "minidump"
file Microsoft wants sent says:

Exception Code 0xc0000005 - The thread tried to read from or write to a
virtual address for which it does not have the appropriate access.

As I recall it normally happens after downloading a test app to a Samsung
Galaxy Tab 2 (either 10 or 7) - my only test devices.

Thanks in advance for any light shed on this topic,

Steve
