The task isn't hanging, it's crapping out somehow without so much as an
inkling of an indication as to why. And for some reason, the Parralel Tasks
window doesn't show any threads whatsoever, even when the task is still
running.

Looking at the constructor you can see that it can hardly be a deadlock -
the task simply dies. There's no blocking method calls either. I've attached
an event handler for UnobservedTaskException, but it catches nothing either.

All I see in the output window is
